Brussels: Belgium and Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne said the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, which will start on November 20, will be a special event that will be watched by everyone.

De Bruyne said that this edition of the World Cup might be the last in his career. He added that he feels excited before participating in it and it is his third participation in the World Cup finals.

The Belgian star said his family would travel to Qatar to attend the competition, making it a special edition for him.

“I feel excited. This’ll be my third appearance at the World Cup. Participation in a World Cup is always a special thing. These events are huge because they’re followed by everyone.”

He continued, “My family will join me during the group-stage matches.

“I’m of course 31 years old and I don’t know what’ll happen in the next four years. This is the first time that my children will be able to attend the World Cup and this is why they’re coming. It’ll be a special event, nor I would miss them.”

De Bruyne’s Belgium were ranked third at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018.

He also participated in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, when Belgium reached the quarterfinals.

Belgium are in Group F, which also includes Canada, Morocco and Croatia.

They will start their World Cup campaign with a match against Canada on November 23. (Agency)
