How would you describe Qatar to people from Cameroon?
One noticeable thing is the safety and security. You could have a large sum of money or a valuable watch on you and no one will try to steal them. People here are focused on their jobs. It’s very diverse. There’re a lot of expats and that’s why the country is so busy.
What’re the best places to visit in Qatar?
I really like the National Museum of Qatar – it’s completely unique. Souq Waqif is rich with Qatari culture. You can see art being created and falcons. I also love the sand dunes – they are a must-see in Qatar. The desert is an amazing experience.
What advice would you give Cameroon fans about visiting Qatar?
It’s important to do some research and understand what Qatar is like. People back home ask me many questions about the country. I tell them the best way to answer them all is by visiting. Qatar is very welcoming and people always leave here with a positive impression of the country.
What can we expect from Cameroon fans during the tournament?
Cameroonians are very friendly and entertaining. They like dancing, they like music, anything that has to do with the fan experience. You should expect music, traditional dances and African outfits being worn, which are amazing. We love colourful outfits.
Cameroon will play their group matches at Al Janoub Stadium and Lusail Stadium. Are you looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere at these venues?
Of course! The Cameroon fans will bring passion and colour to the stands. It’ll be a fun experience for everyone attending. The timing of the tournament is also great – the weather conditions will be perfect.
This will be Cameroon’s eighth appearance at a World Cup. How do you think The Indomitable Lions will fare at Qatar 2022?
Cameroon are a very unpredictable team but this time we’re hoping for a positive outcome. We’ve a lot of trust in our team and our form is good. We expect them to make us proud. We’ve tough opponents in our group like Brazil, but I believe we’ll make it out of that group and I’m positive that we can achieve something at this World Cup. We need to do as much as possible to support our team and give them that positive energy and vibe. I believe the team is strong enough to make it past the quarterfinals.
