Doha: Former Oman national team star Imad Al Hosni confirmed his confidence in the Qatar national team’s performances in its first participation in the World Cup.
Al Hosni said hopes are high for the Qatar team in its historic participation in the World Cup.
He pointed out that everyone believes in the capabilities of Asian champions to appear strongly.
He added that the Qatar team is experienced, and proceeded at a good pace during the preparation stage by participating in camps and playing international friendly matches with teams that have a long history in the World Cup.
He noted that the list announced by coach Felix Sanchez included many players who contributed towards the Asian Cup triumph in 2019, in addition to the fact that the team obtained good experience during the past two years after participating in various continental and international tournaments, be they the Copa America or the CONCACAF Gold Cup or European qualifiers.
The former Oman national team star opined that Ecuador are one of the strong teams and Qatar are able to achieve a satisfactory result against them in the opening game.
Al Hosni also said that the likes of Almoez Ali and Akram Afif will find it tough against Senegal and the Netherlands, but he indicated that Qatar seek to present great levels in order to be respected by the world. Everyone knows that Qatar has strong players capable of facing challenges against any team.
He concluded by saying that the Qatar Football Association provided all support for the team to prepare for these challenges very well and the team will present an image that will stand Arab football in good stead.
