Doha: Qatar captain Hassan Al Haydous apologized to the Arab and Qatari fans over their 1-3 loss to Senegal on Friday in the second round of Group A of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
After the end of the match, Al Haydous said that the Qatar team wasted 90 minutes in the first match, where the team did not appear with the level that was expected, but it performed well to score a positive result, but unfortunately mistakes were recurrent and the team paid heavy price.
He added that the team fell behind at the end of the first half and then conceded another goal at the beginning of the second half, but they reacted, pressed hard and created chances and scored a goal. But then, they conceded a third goal.
Al Haydous added that the players did not fail and presented a superb match, and made a great effort. He apologized to the fans for the loss and wished to appear better in the last match and on future occasions as well.
Commenting on whether the preparatory training camp might have negatively affected the team's appearance in the tournament, he said he did not think so, because the team was ready in terms of all aspects, whether physically or technically.
He added that the team played many matches, indicating that it was under heavy pressure after the first match where it did not present the expected level, and was under pressure in the second match looking for compensation. He, however, said all players were in full readiness.
