Doha: Al Wakrah SC coach Bartolome Marquez Lopez praised the State of Qatar's achievements in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in terms of its great environment and the compactness of stadiums.
He said that this edition of the World Cup was the best in history given the impeccable organization and the great matches.
The former Espanyol coach pointed out that Argentina deserved to win the World Cup after they were able to correct their course quickly and overcome losing the first match to Saudi Arabia.
He highlighted the performances of Enzo Fernandez in particular, as well as Julian Alvarez up front who helped Lionel Messi make the difference. He added that Qatar football benefited from the national team's participation in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
On the league season, he said that they would look to build on last season’s performance and try to challenge for the title. The league will resume on January 4 after a long break.
Al Wakrah had finished third last season with 37 points.
